Lost in the 60's - Part One {Rockwall Tx Photographer}

Inspired by the sixties lately, I was able to brain storm with my creative direct and get together with our MUAH.  The sixties were such a fun colorful time era and with big fashion icons such as twiggy and Audrey Hepburn - especially when Funny Face came out (Think Pink!)

Moving forward

So, I've had my company for five years. I have come a very very long ways in this time. Both in my personal life and in my work life. I was merely a naive teenager at fifteen not knowing what would become of this - not knowing it would be as successful as it has proved to be. Now I'm twenty years old. I've been to college, worked at a camp for the entire summer in photography, been to many workshops, featured in magazines, blogs, galleries, ect. Who would've known, my work? I still feel as though I've been still trying to grow up in both work and personal life. In this development I'm moving my photography into a level that I can not bare contain my excitement. I have been longing for this moment in my photography since the beginning. I may be saying goodbye for awhile for the super happy, light, airy traditional photos you see tagged on someones facebook page or on pinterest.  I'm moving into the genre of non traditional, fashion forward, storybook telling images leaving you wanting more and being curious. The goal I'm so ready for. I hope you are able to still stay with me as I transition into this new path.
I love you all and can not express my words of gratitude for the support you've shown me.
Here's a small preview of what's to come.

Roselia

Amanda had first contacted me through my website and through that calling. The keywords that stuck out to me were 'young' 'colorful' 'whimsical'
Her daughters third birthday was approaching and she wanted her to have a fun session because hey, turning three is a huge deal! So with some creative juices flowing, my mother and I were able to find some vibrant colors to match what Amanda had in mind for Roselia's photos. I love the wings, crown, bikes and all things that make a childhood so much fun.

My Favorite Location

So, sometimes as a photographer, I have to scout out for locations.
Depending on what type of shoot it is, determines what kind of backdrop I am looking for.
If you notice in my photos, my favorite place in is the woods.
Whenever I design and set up a creative shoot for myself, it often is taken in place by the lake and in the woods.
Why those places?
Well, for starters it's gorgeous.
It has a lot to work with it.
If you don't see the potential and the freedom you have to work with in the woods, you probably have a different type of style
than myself or just really hate the outdoors.
The trees, tall, short, fat and skinny. Green and brown. The leaves of fall and the bright colors of spring.
Green is the natural color in summer and spring and the color that surrounds pops out.
In fall and winter, brown and blue are more darker.
If you want something happy, or if you want something to bring out a more depressing/sad mood. Woods.
Okay, maybe the word forest sounds fancier than 'woods'.
Whatever you choose to call it.
All this to say that, the reason I choose the forest as my backdrop is probably because of imagination.
As you know, I love telling stories and the personal creative images I've taken are from me and nothing else. Google didn't create it, pinterest didn't create it. I did.
Often when I dream up of a story I am always wanting to escape and run free.
Which probably relates to something more in depth and some sort of therapist could probably tell me why.
I am dreaming of just escaping the world, even if its just for a moment.
There is a lot of craziness in this world and sometimes we just need to take a break.
I've always grown up in the country and so if I just walked out my backdoor, there would be a field and a bunch of cattle.
The woods is not only an escape for me but for several other characters.
Imagine if little red riding hood walked through New York City, instead of through the woods.
She would have never met the wolf and therefore leaving the story really dumb.
Robin Hood, can't hunt just anywhere.
When I think of a princess wanting to leave the castle for bit, I think of the deep dark hollow woods.
So, that is just a bit of why I have chosen the woods as my central location.

Naomi

The idea for this photoshoot, really did start with a horse. I've always wanted to shoot with a horse.

And the oppertuinty arrived finally when I spoke to my
friend Naomi and she happen to have a friend of her's horse named Teddy, (I think thats right? haha)
She also had a gorgeous renaissance dress she found one
day at a local thrift store and it all came together beautifully for this session.
If you have a business card of mine,
depending on what image you chose, one
of them has a photo of Naomi and Teddy and it often gets a great reaction.
Also, this is yet another delayed blog post.
This session was done back about 3 months ago when it was cold.
I still love this shoot and Naomi is a beautiful model and to me,
this is one of those sessions where it tells a story where you kind of get imaginative.

Andrea

Andrea, just got her latest tattoo of the sea turtle, and what a better way to show it off than to do a photoshoot?
We did this shoot in less then 30 minutes
and had an hour to plan and get everything ready.
One of my favorite 'sudden' shoots!
I love her edginess/mysteriousness behind these photos!
